I am looking for the best way to travel from Phuket to Krabi and Koh Samui in Feb 2010 & any fab hotel advise?

There are 2 obvious routes between Phuket and Krabi.

1. By road up to the north of Phuket, head east then south down to Krabi. You could stop and do elephant rides and see the Phanga Bay stone karst formations.

2. Boat from south Phuket to Ko Phi Phi (where The Beach was filmed). Definitely worth a stop for a few days, very beautiful but quite commercialised now and relatively expensive for Thailand. Another boat from there to Krabi. Each journey is about 2 hours on a large boat / ferry and is cheap.

By the way, Krabi is a fairly drab little town in my opinion. You'd be much much better in Ao Nang a few kms away, much more vibrant, loads of shops / restaurants and markets along the beach front. Also check out Ton Sai bay and Hat Railay.

As for hotels, there are loads in all the areas you mentioned. All different budgets, best to decide on arrival or by recommendation from people you meet. It's normal to ask to look at rooms before booking in over there.

Krabi to Koh Samui is a fairly arduous 4 hour coach trip then a boat. Maybe better to fly that bit, use a local airline, you should get something for under $50.

Hope any of that helps!I am looking for the best way to travel from Phuket to Krabi and Koh Samui in Feb 2010 %26amp; any fab hotel advise?
All travel in Thailand depends on two or three factors: time, mode of transport and money. If you have the time travel by train. It is great fun and comfortable. If you have money and are short of time fly. If you have time and are on a budget then travel by bus, coach, or mini bus.I am looking for the best way to travel from Phuket to Krabi and Koh Samui in Feb 2010 %26amp; any fab hotel advise?
Your hotel in Phuket can provide this info. You can go by bus or boat / taxi or vy hire car. I would choose the boat option
