If you are an adult you should be smart enough to realize that you need to go to reputable sources for good advice, and if you are a kid (like most people in this section) you need to talk to your parents and also look for reputable advice from professionals.
The only thing I can see worthwhile here is maybe sharing new ways to accomplish what professionals recommend.
What think you???Is it wise to ask for advise here...?
FYI... it's advice.... spell check is there for a reason.
if you doubt the reliability of others' experiences, don't post questions on here. this site is about asking others what has worked for them and things they have learned along the way.Is it wise to ask for advise here...?
shut up.
Wisdom lies not in where advice is obtained or even its validity.
Wisdom lies in one's ability to correctly assess the consequences of following advice received.
Those with the wisdom to correctly assess the consequences of such advice can find such a facility as this a very useful tool, as it can save time in listing the variables in a given problem. Often presenting variables that one might otherwise be ignorant.
As for kids using this facility, I suggest it is rather like giving a teenager a car. One may be uncomfortable with the idea of them having the equivalent of a loaded gun. However, we still hope that they will develop the wisdom to use it properly and not be a danger to themselves and others.
Adults and kids alike can use this facility to ask questions that they may feel uncomfortable asking elsewhere.
I think if you're an intelligent individual you will only take from here what you absolutely need to, and take into account that many of the answers on here DO NOT come from professionals. It is nice to have an open forum like this, where people can express their opinions while helping others out. I agree that it can dangerous if the opinions or resolutions given by others are damaging, and could possibly hurt the person asking the questions, but the majority of the questions I see on here are harmless questions asked for entertainment purposes.
i take everything with a grain of salt no matter where i hear it or read it.
Asking for and actually taking the advice is two different things.
I think it is quite interesting to read various points of view.
everyone on here asks the same questions
basically
just eat healthy and exercise
if you dont lose weight then there is something wrong
As long as nothing extreme is being recommended, advice from other people on diets and fitness is often the best way to go. I used to run a lot (cross-country team), so I've learned and developed a lot of techniques that work really well for me, often better than professional advice. Everyone's body is different and everyone is motivated differently, so getting different advice from real-world people is often the best way to go.
edit: This question was posted in the diet %26amp; fitness section -- I answered accordingly; is this where you intended to put it?
this thing gets answers in about 5 mins though it may not be 100% correct you can usually tell if some1 knows there stuff or just being stupid and answering for no reason
Depends on what you are asking.
Take me for example, I think I have bronchitis but I can't get to the doc till Monday so I asked people what home remedies they recommended. I may not use them all but there might be something someone has tried that I haven't that will help me.
Agree 100%
Well i think since im only 13 years old i think they give good advice here mainly all the advice i get is what my parents tell me.....!!!
i think that if you are soo much smarter and better than us, why are you here asking this question to begin? shouldnt you already know the answer. after all, you answered your own question. it seems to me that you cant see the forest becasue of the trees.
Well, of course it is always better to get professional help instead of the help on the internet...but most people ask for advice, to see what others would do before getting professional help...
Yeah, you got that right!
There are younger people on here that actually read what adults have written; hopefully they follow the advice provided it is advice I'd give my kid.
Did you ask your parents about this?
you are correct,
this seems to be more for recreation than anything serous
I see your point, and I've noticed that a lot of questions are asked by younger people that should be talking to a parent. But, I do think that educated people answer questions here. Of course, people should know that it's not coming from a doctor. Maybe it's just a second opinion for some people. I personally work in the health field and I like to take my experience's and try to give people some insight of what I might ';think'; is going on.
Oh, don't bother here...we're all a bunch of Yahoos!
People all have some experience whether they are professionals or not. You can get a lot of opinions or advice from a lot of different people pretty quickly. You do have to recognize you are dealing with the general public.
It is always good to get advice from realiable trustworthy people ...I would say you can find them any where ,,,but I would NOT take everyone's word as truth and a solution...You have to pick and choose ..some are great answers on here and others aren't even worth the time of reading them...You have to choose ....wisely...use your instincts and than maybe go ask a profession or look it up where you know it is a fact...we can only give advise,,some of it will be helpful some of it will be garbage or just a laugh for you...DO not take things serious here. Most try to help if we can that's all....
I think that anyone with sense will only take what they need to from any answers. Sometimes people are scared of what they may find out by going to a doctor or their parents, I'm not saying thats a good reason to come on here for help, but I am saying that if they get enough people to respond to the question they will make the right decision, and if this doesn't work then people will have to deal with it anyway. I think this place is a great way to let people express themselves without anyone being able to hold opinions against each other for more than a blog
I think the best advice I've seen on anything medical is go to a doctor or take a tylenol and if it gets worse go to a doctor.
