I am currently starting a divorce process and I would like to see what options and resources are there for me without having to pay a fortune for the first appointment with a lawyer, any help?Is there a way of getting a good divorce advise without paying a fortune?
JUST REMEMBER, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR WHEN IT COMES TO DIVORCE.
THE PROCESS IS THAT YOU FILE A PAPER TO THE COURT..THE OPTIONS ARE WHAT YOU WANT MATERIALLY OUT OF THE RELATIONSHIP. IF YOU HAVE A SEPARATION AGREEMENT ALREADY IN PLACE, IT CAN BE INCORPORATED INTO THE DIVORCE. EITHER WAY, CHILD SUPPORT;CUSTODY, THINGS FROM FURNITURE AND HOUSING ARE ALL SEPARATED ON THESE DOCUMENTS.
ALIMONY AS WELL. YOU MAY CHOOSE TO WAIVE EACH OTHERS SOC SEC BENEFITS AND RETIREMENTS. ONCE FILED, AND A COPY IS MAILED TO YOUR SPOUSE, THEY HAVE TO SEND AN ''ANSWER' BACK TO THE COURT IF THEY AGREE OR NOT. THEN A HEARING IS SET BEFORE A MAGISTRATE (IN SOME STATES) IF YOU TWO ARE IN AGREEMENT ON EVERYTHING (it is called UNCONTESTED DIVORCE). IF YOU DISAGREE, THE DIVORCE HEARING WILL BE SET BEFORE A JUDGE AND AFTER HEARING EACH SIDE, THEY WILL DECIDE WHO GETS WHAT. (This is called a CONTESTED DIVORCE).
THERE ARE LOCAL LAWS AND RIGHTS THAT YOU WILL NOT BE AWARE OF IF YOU GET THE PAPERS FROM THE COURT AND FILE FOR YOURSELF IN COURT. ''''''THAT IS THE REASON FOR GETTING A LAWYER.'''''' NO REPUTABLE LAWYER WILL GIVE ADVICE WITHOUT A RETAINER~~MONEY TOWARDS HIS FEE TO FILE YOUR DIVORCE AND GIVE ADVICE.
GOOD LUCK.Is there a way of getting a good divorce advise without paying a fortune?
A lot of lawyers do not charge for an initial consultation.
Check around.
My advice is to call a divorce lawyer and ask for a free consultation. I'm thinking divorce lawyer's would offer such a deal, because bankruptcy, and other types of lawyers offer free consultations.
Good Luck!!
Look in your local phone book.
Libraries. Especially those near court houses or universities. I researched alot of great advice about step-parent adoption and parental termination there. My answer to your question is to do lots of research. I did so much research, I could tell you ANYTHING you want to know about that. Talk to friends who may have gone through the same thing...or attorney friends, if you have any. Online information is also helpful. Good luck!
Ask my ex-wife.
She found a book on do-it-yourself divorces. If there are no kids and not alot of assests to divide and the split is amicable then you don't need lawyers.
Also, you could go to one of those ';We the People'; they will handle all the paperwork for you for about $299. Not exactly cheap, but better than a lawyer. Again, this is if the divorce is amicable.
Well, I seen some programs on tv where them folks off they're spouses, but I think you get yerself in jail fer that, so yer gonna hafta pay a lot or go to jail. Sucks either way.
see a man who knows a man who knows a man on the docks of the new jersey river. he supposedly wears an eye patch.
