My grandson had a tetanus shot on Tuesday and today it is very warm to the touch and has a rash. advise?

should we be bringing him to urgent care, it is after hours. Or is it common to have this. He is 4.5 years old, says it is sore, but his other shots are sore too. He had his kindergarten round of shots.

It could possibly be a normal reaction to the shot, but I would take him just in case. At 4 you may not know all of his allergies and sensitivities yet. He could be having a reaction to something in the shot, or even have a latex allergy that is responding to the bandaid. A tetanus shot will make the area sore where they gave him his shot. If shot in the arm he may complain that his arm is sore/stiff too. It goes away in a day or two. You get this shot (or should) about every 10 years.





As far as the fever, I don't think a tetanus shot would cause a fever, but other booster shots will. You mentioned ';his other shots';. They may be causing the fever. It should last a day. The doctor should have sent papers home with you regarding the types of shots he received and what to watch for.





To keep your peace of mind call your pediatrician's office. Most offices have a doctor on call to answer your questions and advise you if you should bring the child in or not.
You don't say what kind of rash it is exactly. Is it just red around the injection site? If so, then that is pretty normal but would keep an eye on it. Give him some tylenol and use an ice pack on the injection site as well.

That would be a good idea to take him to urgent care. I strongly advice not to give any more shots and vaccinations to children. Tetanus shots do nothing and they're made out of some of the most shocking things you wouldn't believe. Heres a partial list of what common vaccines have:
