Tach gauges do not work..will not shift into 1st or drive. (automatic)
Have changed transmission fluid, filter, and trans speed sensor.
Upon starting none of the gauges move at all. Check gauges light stays on. It has been sitting for several months in the garage..and was shifting hard before that, but would shift into drive and 1st at that time.

Bad chassis ground. The repair is easy, finding the bad ground is a nightmare. There are dozens of chassis grounds in the electrical system. Good luck.
The transmission is electrically shifted buy a computer.
It is possible a computer scan tool may help. You may need one that does more than simply retrieving the trouble codes. You may need a higher end scan tool that can actually read the transmission computer.
As these higher end scan tools usually sell for over $1000, you may need to see a mechanic.
Unfortunately, your current mechanic has sold you a speed sensor that you most likely didn't need. The sold you a fluid and filter change, that you may have needed, but wasn't the source of your problem. This guy is throwing parts (and your money) at the problem, hoping to get lucky and stumble upon the problem. If allowed to continue, this will cost you unnecessary money and lots of frustration.
I know this will cost you more initially, but you may want to bring it into a Chevrolet Dealer for an estimate. They have the correct diagnostic tools for your vehicle and will most likely get it right the first time. In the long run, this may save you money and frustration.Need Mechanics advise, 1995 Chevy Silverado 1500 V8 2wd?
it high time to over haul your ';gearbox';
Have you checked all of your fuses?? If the gauges aren't working and the gear indicator isn't moving it wont go into gear.
