Rent holiday home from a private, please advise?

Hello..





I'm looking to rent holiday home for a week in Italy/ Sardinia from a private landlady and not an agency.


How can I make sure it is not a ';scam';?


The lady seems genuine, she asked me for a small deposit and the balance on arrival.


What type of recommendation shall I ask? can you give me some advise?

Once you find someone that wants to do business with you then check the local government for any complaints against them. In the USA you could check with the Chamber of Commerce but not sure if they have that in Italy.
