Can anyone advise me on laptops/notebooks please?

It is a choice between a Samsung Intel core duo, 1 GB Ram 80 GB hard drive and a Samsung core 2 duo 1 GB ram 100GB hard drive.

I understand there is a difference between Intel core duo and core 2 duo. I want to know what the difference is, pros and cons and/or which would be best for storing 4000 karaoke (CD+G) tracks and playing them through a PA system.

Also, is there any difference between a laptop and notebook?

Many thanks in advance to anyone who can advise. Can anyone advise me on laptops/notebooks please?
first off if you going to play karaoke on any laptop you should see if it has the following first:

2 USB 2.0 port (min)

1 Parrallel Port

1external CRT display port 15 pin DDC2b compliant'

1external keyboard/PS-2 mouse port

6 pin s-Video jack for tv out

2 audio jacks for line out or headphone, microphone or line in

Video Dual Display graphics for second karaoke singer's display

Internal 120GB hard drive ( 40GB min)

Internal DVD/CDRW Combo Drive

1GB RAM memory (512MB min)

Expect to pay over $1000 for a good karaoke laptop PC

I recommend getting a external 300+ GB hardrive I recomment getting 2GB RAM also !

I'm actually going to be buying a Karaoke Laptop here myself soon I have done tons of resaerch almost all have said Dual Video and Large hard drive is a must !Can anyone advise me on laptops/notebooks please?
I've included a link that compares the two processors. Basically, the Core 2 Duo is the way to go. The extra 20GB of disk space won't hurt either..

For your main application, you probably don't need to worry about processor speed. Hard disk space and, especially, the sound chips in the laptop should be your main differentiators beyond price.

Note that there is no official difference between a laptop and a notebook. It all depends on what the company feels sounds better.
Whenever buying a PC it is usually best to buy the best you can afford, this helps prevent needing to upgrade later on. I'd sugest going for the faster processor and larger hard drive.

I don't know how big the karaoke tracks would be so I don't know how much hard drive space you would need but if you need to you can always get a larger external hard drive to connect to the PC and store them on that.

In the past a notebook was slimmer and lighter than a laptop but hese days the terms pretty much relate to the same thing
yes dell is best
One thing I would look for is Dead or Stuck pixels

I have just been stung by Toshiba for this (拢 400 wasted)

They refuse to repair under warranty and want nothing to do with me

See it running before you buy !!!

check the screen

Dont buy Toshiba !!
When using the machine for audio or visual you will want the faster processor - stick with the Samsung core 2 duo 1 GB ram 100GB hard drive.

When doing basic word processing and text type work, you don't necessarily need the processor speed so much.
