Why do they advise not to mate your dog in its 1st heat?

Because if you do the dog is not developed enough and you might end up with mutated babies and thats sad to see.Why do they advise not to mate your dog in its 1st heat?
It's the equivalent of a 12-13 year old human having a baby. They've gone through puberty, but still aren't physically mature and there's a much higher risk for complications.

Also, at that age the dog is still to young to have any sort of genetic health certifications (OFA/CERF), so you could be passing along genetic health problems.

.Why do they advise not to mate your dog in its 1st heat?
Should a girl get pregnant on her first period? Hopefully not. A dog goes into heat around six months. A dog that young is not done growing and having puppies at such a young age can be damaging to their health. A dog is not fully mature and ready to have puppies until they are around two years old.
Because at 6 months they are still puppies. Wild canines don't breed that early. Why? Because at 6 months you aren't dominant to ANYONE. Secondly at 6 months they aren't old enough or fully grown from the various screening and tests they need.

OFA CERF PennHIP BAER etc
A dog must be at least 2 years old to have the proper health testing done to breed.

along with not breeding in the first heat, it's not a good idea to breed back to back heats.
